You & Me
Hi, I'm Alison,
My mission is to help you regain control of your health. Most people come to me when they feel their body is ruling them, they're in pain or some sort of discomfort. We can take steps to understnad what's "going on" in our bodies, and then work with it instead of against it. Think about your car, you have a dashboard that gives you indications if something is about to go wrog or there's a problem with a part of the car. We now have access to testing that gives us the same for our health. So no more driving around and only noticing there's a problem when the engine explodes or the wheels fall off!
Once we have the data from your test, the real magic happens. We work together to formulate a plan with comfortable, manageable chages for you to implement for your lifestyle and for yoru lifetime. Usually, this not only tops up your "health Pension" and gives you an investment into your furture health, but also helps eliminate niggling symptoms. Symptoms that we need to listen to - that's our body telling us something isn't right.
My background:
Previously working as a Head of IT in the City, I found myself struggling with the symptoms of IBS. After having 2 children and finding little solace from conventional medicine, I discovered I could unlock the door to my health through diet and lifestyle, leading me to become a Nutritional Therapist with a speciality for Gut Health. I've been through the embarrassment, discomfort and social anxiiety of having IBS symptoms.
Degree educated and qualified with the Health Sciences Academy, I have successfully completed over 8 qualifications in nutrition, giving me an expansive toolset to apply to you. I'm fully insured and a certified member of the International Institute of Complimentary Therapists.
My previous career in IT has given me a different approach to Nutrition. I have a very logical mind and like to have facts to work with. This allows us to work together with a baseline for accountability and measurable progress. We can use several tests to understand what could be going on before diving into changing your diet. I also live life in balance. We have to enjoy life. Food is our source of energy and a necessity of life so why do so many people have problems with nutrition and diet? Our relationship with food should be positive, this is achieved by understanding what we need and an education on what is "good" for us. We look at this from a holistic angle and not from an individual food perspective. Chocolate and treats are ok, everything in moderation. The key word is BALANCE.
In 2023 I found myself working with many women in or entering perimenupause, which has led me to complete a Menopause Wellbeing qualification, so I can now support women in this area too. I've also developed a workshop for corporates about Gut Health & Menopause. The last 18 months has seen my interests peak in Child Nutrition too. Having 2 very active and sporty children has led me to understanding the individual and vital nutrition requitmenrts for growing, active bodies. A really important topic that doesn't seem to have much exposure. This has led me to giving talks and lessons at schools and local sport clubs.

I found your knowledge and experience and practical approach to nutrition so helpful. You quickly understood what I was trying to achieve and you gave me so much useful information that I can now easily apply it to my day-to-day life. You are a very easy person to speak to, and what I loved about you is that there was no judgement at all, just useful help and advice that can be easily applied and maintained. I’m amazed that we covered so much ground in just an hour – it was an education for me! Your advice was very much appreciated – thank you! I will be recommending you to all my friends and colleagues. I have saved so much time and effort by spending an hour with you!
I have been working with Alison for almost a year now and have been very impressed with the amount of personalisation and passion Alison brings to our sessions. I have struggled with tummy issues all my life but things were starting to get unmanageable about a year and a half ago. I had various tests that concluded it was IBS and could only be treated via amendments to my diet. After following a low fodmap diet unsuccessfully I decided to work with Alison to find a more sustainable approach. Alison is very thorough and had me doing a number of detailed food diaries- something I did not enjoy but were absolutely necessary! One of the things we discovered is that I have zero tolerance to milk! Now, I’m not a dairy person so never drank a lot of milk but I started eating porridge with full fat milk ( all we had in fridge for the children) and started to get chronic constipation where I would literally be up in the middle of night in agony at least once a week. Alison suggested lactose free milk and since then my tummy has been so much happier! She also advised on many other areas which have not only better educated me around food but have also made me so much more comfortable. I couldn’t recommend Alison enough!
Alison is passionate about her subject area and in particular is very knowledgeable about current discussions/topics which I find very useful. She is very easy to talk to and explains everything really well which makes it easy to understand then apply to daily life. Highly recommended.
