Love yourself on Valetines Day

Valentines’ day….

What does it mean to you?  It’s lovely if you have a partner, can be a bit rubbish if you’re single.

I like to use Valentines Day as a reminder for us to show ourselves some love!   We spend so much of our lives thinking about everyone else, birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries etc.  Why not use Valentines Day as a reason to look after yourself?

The shops become a sea of hearts, flowers and red everywhere. But are we thinking about our hearts?  A vital organ that should be looked after, respected and not taken for granted.

So, if you’ve had that “health check” on your list for ages, take some time to sort it out today, as a way of showing yourself and your amazing body some love.  It works 24/7 for you!

Testing is an accurate way of finding our what’s going on under our skin.  Sometimes, (if you’re lucky enough to get a GP appointment) you can find a GP that will order tests for you to find out if your bodily systems are working well.  Unfortunately, the NHS is overstretched, and controlled by finance, so what they deem as “unnecessary testing” rarely gets authorised.  Usually, you have to show symptoms to get a test.

Private testing comes in all shapes and sizes, from at home finger prick testing, to a nurse visiting your home to draw blood, to stool samples.

If you work with me, you get testing, results and, the more important part; what to do with your results and how to change your lifestyle to correct any problems.  I can also get blood test results back within 72 hours (usually 48 hours), which is quick!

You may notice I haven’t mentioned the gut yet, which is rare for me!  So here it is.

Gut health is one of the most important things you can invest in for your body.  Bacteria in your gut can directly influence cholesterol levels as well as almost every other aspect of our health.  I will keep blogging about gut health because, I believe, it’s the starting point for all health challenges.  Your microbiome can influence so much of your life, from anxiety to skin, to hormones.  Knowing what’s going on your gut is very powerful information, and knowing how to change it for the better gives you the key to controlling your health.
